Blodsrit is a Swedish black metal band from Västervik, Sweden. The origin of the name is based, says singer Nazgûl, on an ancient pagan ritual, "in which blood was sacrificed to achieve better harvests and a happier love life." The name was chosen "because of its fierce action."

History

The band was founded in 1998 by Kettil and Jimmie "Nazgul" Nyhlén under the name Skuggrike. Under this name they recorded only the demo on The Arrival of Kaos and then parted, the demo recording remained unreleased. Nazgûl renamed the band Blodsrit and led them on his own. In 1999 he took the demo to Dödens sändebud. In the same year the band of Chanteloup Creations from France for an album under the contract was taken during the recording of the debut had Chanteloup Creations adjust their own activities because of emerging problems and the contract was transferred to Oaken Shield Records / Records Adipocere.

In the summer of 2001 released their debut album Supreme Misanthropy. The band recorded more material, and recruited drummer Fiebig (portal, carve, Paganizer) to replace the previously used drum machines.
