Bradley Michael Snyder (born May 25, 1982) is an American professional baseball outfielder who is currently a free agent. He was raised in Bellevue, Ohio, and attended Ball State University from 2001–2003.
Playing career
College
In 168 games with Ball State, Snyder hit .378 with 36 home runs and 150 RBI. He was a first team Freshman All-America selection in 2001 and a first team All-American and the Mid-American Conference Player of the Year in 2003.[1]
Cleveland Indians
The Cleveland Indians selected him with the 18th overall pick in the first round of the 2003 Major League Baseball draft.[2]
Snyder was assigned to Short-Season Mahoning Valley, where in 62 games as the team's center fielder, he hit .284 with 6 HR, 31 RBI and 52 runs. Snyder began 2004 with Single-A Lake County, where he hit .280 in 79 games before earning a promotion to High-A Kinston in August. In 108 games in 2004, he hit .300 with 16 HR, 75 RBI and 72 runs. Before 2005, he was rated the 84th best prospect in baseball by Baseball America. Snyder began 2005 with Kinston, hitting .278 in 58 games before earning a promotion to Double-A Akron in June, where he finished the season. In 133 games in 2005, he hit .279 with 22 HR, 82 RBI and 92 runs. He was rated the 71st best prospect in baseball prior to 2006. Snyder played all of 2006 with Akron, where in 133 games, he hit .270 with 18 HR, 72 RBI, 20 stolen bases, and a league-leading 86 runs.
He was a September call-up for the Indians in 2006, but did not appear in a Major League game.
Snyder played 2007 with Triple-A Buffalo, where in 86 games, he hit .263 with 10 HR, 35 RBI, and 41 runs.
He was also called up April 27, 2008, but was sent back to Buffalo the next day without making an appearance. He played 2008 with Buffalo as well, where in 115 games, he hit .246 with 12 HR, 61 RBI and 52 runs.
Chicago Cubs
He was claimed off waivers by the Chicago Cubs on September 22, 2008 and sent to minor league camp on March 29, 2009.[3] He was limited to 74 games in 2009 due to a sprained wrist. He hit .278 with 15 HR, 47 RBI and 40 runs with Triple-A Iowa.
Snyder was called up to the Chicago Cubs on September 7, 2010 and made his major league debut the same day following a season with the AAA Iowa Cubs where he hit .308 with 25 home runs and 106 RBIs.[4] He recorded his first major league hit in his first start, a 2-run single off of Brett Sinkbeil. In 12 games with Chicago, he hit 5-27 with 1 double, 1 run and 5 RBI.
The Cubs purchased his contract on May 29, 2011.[5] He was designated for assignment on June 11.[6] In 9 games with Chicago, he hit 1-9 with a run. After the 2011 season, he elected for free agency.[7] In 102 games with Iowa in 2011, he hit .290 with 11 HR, 57 RBI and 48 runs.
Houston Astros
On November 12, 2011, he signed a minor league contract with the Houston Astros.[8] In 122 games with the Triple-A Oklahoma City RedHawks, he hit .304 with 20 HR, 66 RBI and 65 runs.
Arizona Diamondbacks
In November, 2012 he signed a minor league contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks. In 116 games with the Triple-A Reno Aces, he hit .311 with 12 HR, 60 RBI and 77 runs.
Texas Rangers
On November 14, 2013 Snyder signed a minor league contract with the Texas Rangers.[9] His contract was purchased from the Triple-A Round Rock Express on June 10, 2014 when Mitch Moreland was placed on the disabled list.[10] He played in ten games, all as a first baseman, hitting .167. He was designated for assignment on June 24 and elected to become a free agent.[11]
Somerset Patriots
On March 24, 2016, Snyder signed with the Somerset Patriots of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.
Vaqueros Laguna
On June 28, 2016, Snyder signed with the Vaqueros Laguna of the Mexican Baseball League.
