Clarendon House Grammar School was a girls' grammar school in Ramsgate, Kent, England, established in 1905.[1]

In September 2013, Clarendon House and neighboring Chatham House Grammar School merged to form the Chatham & Clarendon Grammar School.

Merger

The school was often partnered with Chatham House Grammar School, for activities such as instrumental bands, choirs, an annual theatre production and field trips. Both Clarendon House and Chatham House were single sex until fifth form and allowed both boys and girls to enter in the sixth form.

Due to the proximity of the two schools (within ten minutes walk of each other), some AS and A level subjects were taught jointly by both schools - such as Music and Music Technology - or by one school - for example, Drama was taught at Clarendon but available to Chatham House students, while Sport Science was taught at Chatham House, but available to Clarendon House students.

The two schools federated in January 2011 to become a Converter Academy.[2] In Spring 2011, it was announced that the schools would work together as one school due to Clarendon House being under-subscribed and Chatham House being over-subscribed.

History

Clarendon House was granted specialist language school status in September 2004.[3]
