Desmopuntius is a genus of cyprinids native to Southeast Asia.[1]
Etymology
The name Desmopuntius is derived from the Greek language "desmotes" meaning "prisoner" and genus name "Puntius", a reference to the striped outfits commonly attributed to prison wear.[1]
