Doolittle station

The Doolittle Station is a car barn and proposed Bay Area Rapid Transit station that is part of the Coliseum–Oakland International Airport line.[1]

Overview

The station area was proposed the vicinity of the intersection at Hegenberger Road and Doolittle Drive.[2] A former union house was demolished in order to clear room for the barn.

The BART to Oakland International Airport automated guideway transit (people mover) system opened in November 2014.[1] However Doolittle Station with passenger traffic did not open with it as there was no funding available for completion. It is in that sense a ghost station whose basic infrastructure will be set up but which will not be completely built and could potentially become an infill station at a future time. The City of Oakland suggested this station as a site that would support the city's efforts to revitalize the Hegenberger Road Corridor.[1]
