Twenty One Pilots concert chronology

Emotional Roadshow World Tour, stylized as EMØTIØNAL RØADSHØW WØRLD TØUR,[1] is a headlining concert tour by American musical duo Twenty One Pilots in support of their album Blurryface. The tour began on May 31, 2016, in Cincinnati at the U.S. Bank Arena, and is scheduled to conclude on April 8, 2017, in Perth at the Perth Arena.

Background and development

On October 26, 2015, the tour was first announced with dates starting in Cincinnati going through New York City.[2] On May 9, 2016, more tour dates were announced that includes Europe, more North America, and Oceania dates.[3]

Concert synopsis

The show begins with an introduction of "Fairly Local" before the band takes the stage in ski masks and red suits and go straight into "Heavydirtysoul". Throughout the show, large LED screens show hi-def animations unique to each song. Tyler Joseph performs fan favorite "Migraine", followed by "Hometown", during which he is placed under a sheet, vanishes, and reappears in the crowd to finish the song. The pair then plays an assortment of their recent tracks, including their soundtrack hit "Heathens". A performance of "Lane Boy" is accompanied by the word "success" flashing on the screen behind the pair, who quickly depart the main stage after the song to change into skeleton sweatshirts and run to a satellite stage with an LED floor in the middle of the general admission area. The duo sings a medley of older songs, including "Ode to Sleep", "Johnny Boy", "March to the Sea", "Fall Away", "The Pantaloon", "Forest" and "Kitchen Sink"; Tyler sits cross-legged on the floor staring down at his feet as he sang lines from "Addict with a Pen".

Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun return to the main stage and play on a tiny drum kit and keyboard platform at the edge of audience for "Doubt". Joseph enters the crowd to sing the opening verse of "Holding On to You", while Dun backflips off of the piano during the bridge. Joseph invites out openers Mutemath and Chef'Special for a series of covers. The now-nine piece band hit "Twist and Shout", then a quick bit of Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself", Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On", and a hyped snippet of House of Pain's "Jump Around". After performing the covers, the duo performs their biggest radio hits, "Ride" and "Stressed Out". Tyler crawls into a red blow-up hamster ball for "Guns for Hands". They then play "Tear In My Heart" before Joseph ends the show by climbing the stage scaffolding during a performance of "Car Radio".

For the encore, the duo first performs "Goner". Tyler will usually thank the audience for coming to the show and give a brief speech about the show. The final song, "Trees", ends with the pair bashing drums while riding atop the crowd. Joseph and Dun bow and thank the audience with the sign-off "We are Twenty One Pilots, and so are you".[4]
