Fred N. Cummings
Fred Nelson Cummings (September 18, 1864 – November 10, 1952) was a U.S. Representative from Colorado.
Born on a farm near Groveton, New Hampshire, Cummings moved with his parents to Clinton, Iowa in 1865, and in 1879 to a farm near West Union, Nebraska. He attended the rural schools. He engaged in agricultural pursuits and the raising of livestock. He studied law. He was admitted to the bar in 1891 and commenced practice in Custer County, Nebraska. He moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, in 1906 and resumed agricultural pursuits. He served as member of the city council of Fort Collins 1909-1913.
Cummings was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-third and to the three succeeding Congresses (March 4, 1933 - January 3, 1941). He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1940 to the Seventy-seventh Congress. He resumed his former pursuits. He died in Fort Collins, Colorado, November 10, 1952. He was interred in Grandview Cemetery, Fort Collins.
