"Light It Up" is a song by American electronic music producing group Major Lazer, featuring vocals from Jamaican singer Nyla, which appears on Major Lazer's third studio album Peace Is the Mission. A remixed version of the song, to which additional vocals from British-Ghanaian Fuse ODG were added, was included on a re-released version of Peace Is the Mission and released as the album's third single overall on November 5, 2015.[1]

Commercial performance

The song attained international success in Europe and Oceania. It also marks Nyla's and ODG's highest-charting single to date. On the Billboard Hot 100 the song debuted at 98 and has peaked at number 73, marking Nyla's and ODG's first entry on the chart.

Remixes

On March 12, 2016, an Italian version of the song was released, featuring vocals from Italian singer and songwriter Baby K.[2]

Music video

The official music video for the song (the version with Fuse ODG) was released on YouTube on 1 April 2016. The video is shot in greyscale. The video features a traditional Ghanaian funeral ceremony and focuses on the themes of death and despair, but also hope and a new beginning.

A second video was released by Major Lazer on their YouTube account, this video was made by special effects studio Motion Studios. It shows multiple CGI people, such as people covered in fur, changing colors and made of streamers dancing.
