List of international cricket five-wicket hauls at Seddon Park
The Seddon Park is a 10,000 seating capacity cricket ground in Hamilton, New Zealand. The first One Day International played here was between New Zealand and India on 15 February 1981, which New Zealand won by 57 runs. The first Test match was played on February 22–26, 1991, between New Zealand and Sri Lanka, which was a draw. on 28 December 2008, first Twenty20 International was played between New Zealand and India.
Up to December 2015, in total the ground was the venue for 21 Test matches, and 27 ODIs and 7 T20I matches.
In cricket, a five-wicket haul (also known as a "five-for" or "fifer")[1][2] refers to a bowler taking five or more wickets in a single innings. This is regarded as a notable achievement.[3]
The first bowler to take a five-wicket haul in a Test match at Seddon Park was Rumesh Ratnayake, who took 5/77 in 1991 for Sri Lanka against host New Zealand.[4] Bowling figures of 7/27 by Chris Cairns of New Zealand holds the record as the best bowling figures to date in Tests at Seddon Park. There have been a total of 24 five-wicket hauls in Test matches at the ground.
In ODIs, and T20Is, still no five-wicket has been taken at Seddon Park.
