Luanda is the capital and largest city in Angola. Due to decades of civil war, Angola lacked significant development until very recently. Currently, there are 12 buildings that stand taller than 35 m (115 ft). The tallest building in the city is the 25-storey, 104 m (341 ft) Intercontinental Hotel & Casino completed in 2011.[1] The second-tallest building in the city is Edificio GES, standing at 100 m (328 ft) tall with 25 storeys.[2] Several of the tallest buildings in the Angola are currently under construction in the city. If completed, Torre De Angola at 325 m (1,066 ft) will be the tallest building in Africa and in the top 100 tallest in the world. On the other hand, when they are finished, the Angola World Trade Center twin towers will be the tallest twin buildings in Africa at 155 m (509 ft) and 135 m (443 ft) tall.

Luanda's history is one that involves a lot of destruction and strife. However, due to the end of the civil war in 2002, Luanda is undergoing massive reconstruction and economic development. Angola is becoming one of the most advanced countries in Africa with the highest concentration of development currently on the African Continent. All of the city's high rises have been constructed within the last 6 years, a product of investment in the nation's vast oil reserves.

As of 2011, Luanda had 12 completed high-rise buildings, with 4 towers over 100 m (328 ft) tall under construction, another 4 approved for construction and dozens more high rises proposed. After this skyscraper boom, Luanda's skyline will have dramatically changed.[3]

This list ranks Luanda's skyscrapers that stand at least 50 m (164 ft) tall, based on standard height measurement. This includes spires and architectural details but does not include antenna masts.
