Maduro Holding B.V. is the holding company of the Maduro Group, a private Dutch conglomerate based in the Dutch Caribbean. The company is headquartered in Willemstad, Curaçao.

History

Founded in 1837 as a trading company, Maduro began operating schooners between local Caribbean ports. By World War II, Willemstad had become a primary port of call for tankers transporting aviation fuel to the Allies in Northern Africa and Great Britain.[1] In 1917, Maduro and local financier Joseph Alvarez-Correa founded Maduro's Bank, the predecessor to Maduro & Curiel's Bank.[2]

Present day

The Maduro Group operates as a shipping agency, logistical provider, travel agency, real estate owner and transportation provider. Launched in 2006, Insel Air serves as the national airline of Curaçao.
