Maidenwell is a small rural town in the South Burnett Region, Queensland, Australia.[1] At the 2011 Australian Census the town recorded a population of 458.[2]

History

Pioneer settler John King dug the first well in the district, hence the name Maidenwell.[1] Maidenwell Post Office opened in 1906 (a receiving office named Pinpinbugie had been open from 1900) and closed in 1978.[3]

Tourism

Coomba Falls is located about 2 kilometres east of the town. There is a deep cold pool at the base of the falls surrounded by granite cliffs. It is a popular tourist spot for picnicking, swimming, birdwatching and photography.[5]
