Brian Anderson

Brian Wade Anderson (born May 19, 1993) is an American professional baseball third baseman in the Miami Marlins organization.

Anderson attended Deer Creek High School in Edmond, Oklahoma and was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 20th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft.[1] He did not sign with the Twins and played college baseball at the University of Arkansas.[2] After his junior year he was drafted by the Miami Marlins in the third round of the 2014 MLB Draft.[3]

Anderson made his professional debut with the Batavia Muckdogs and was promoted to the Greensboro Grasshoppers after 20 games. In 2015 he played for the Jupiter Hammerheads and after the season played in the Arizona Fall League.[4] Anderson started 2016 with Jupiter and was promoted to the Jacksonville Suns during the season.[5] He was named the Marlins Minor League Player of the Year.[6] He played in the Arizona Fall League after the season for the second consecutive year.[7][8]

Luis Castillo

Luis Miguel Castillo (born December 12, 1992) is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher in the Miami Marlins organization.

Castillo signed with the San Francisco Giants as an international free agent in December 2011. On December 20, 2014, Castillo along with Kendry Flores were traded to the Miami Marlins for Casey McGehee.[9]

On July 29, 2016, the Marlins traded Castillo along with Jarred Cosart, Josh Naylor and Carter Capps to the San Diego Padres for Andrew Cashner, Colin Rea and Tayron Guerrero.[10][11] He was returned to Marlins after Rea suffered an injury in his first start and was returned to the Padres. The Marlins added him to their 40-man roster after the season.[12]

Austin James Dean (born October 14, 1993) is an American professional baseball outfielder in the Miami Marlins organization.

Dean was drafted by the Miami Marlins in the fourth round of the 2012 Major League Baseball draft out of Klein Collins High School in Spring, Texas.[13] He made his professional debut that season with the Gulf Coast Marlins.[14] In 2013 he played for the Batavia Muckdogs and was promoted to the Greensboro Grasshoppers. He returned to Greensboro in 2014.[15]

Stone Garrett

Stone Garrett (born November 22, 1995) is an American professional baseball outfielder in the Miami Marlins organization.

Garrett was drafted by the Miami Marlins in the eighth round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft out of George Ranch High School in Richmond, Texas.[16][17] He signed with the Marlins rather than play college baseball at Rice University.[18] He made his professional debut with the Gulf Coast Marlins.[19] Playing with the Batavia Muckdogs in 2015, Garrett was named the Marlins Minor League Player of the Year after hitting .297 with a .933 On-base plus slugging (OPS), 11 home runs and 46 runs batted in.[20][21]

Matt Ramsey

Matt Ramsey (born September 24, 1989) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Miami Marlins organization.

Ramsey played college baseball at the University of Tennessee. The Marlins added him to their 40-man roster on November 20, 2014.

J. T. Riddle

Joshua T. Riddle (born October 12, 1991) is an American professional baseball shortstop for the Miami Marlins organization.

Riddle attended Western Hills High School in Frankfort, Kentucky. Playing for the school's baseball team, Riddle was named Mr. Kentucky Baseball. He then enrolled at the University of Kentucky, where he played college baseball for the Kentucky Wildcats.[22]

The Miami Marlins selected Riddle in the 13th round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft. He signed with Miami and began his professional career with the Batavia Muckdogs of the Class A-Short Season New York–Penn League.[23][24] He played for the Greensboro Grasshoppers of the Class A South Atlantic League in 2014.[25] Riddle began the 2015 season with the Jupiter Hammerheads of the Class A-Advanced Florida State League,[26] and received a midseason promotion to the Jacksonville Suns of the Class AA Southern League.[27] After the 2015 season, the Marlins assigned Riddle to the Mesa Solar Sox of the Arizona Fall League.[28]

In 2016, the Marlins invited Riddle to spring training.[29] The Marlins added him to their 40-man roster after the season.[12]

Brady Shoemaker

Brady Shoemaker (born May 10, 1987 in Brazil, Indiana) is a minor league baseball outfielder in the Miami Marlins organization. He is 6'0" and weighs 200 lbs.

Shoemaker was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 19th round of the 2009 MLB draft, after attending Indiana State University. Shoemaker started his baseball career in 2009 at the Rookie level with the Bristol White Sox and Great Falls Voyagers then made a jump all the way to Triple-A Charlotte Knights for 8 games in 2009. In 2009 combined, Shoemaker hit .321 in 234 at-bats with 10 HRs, 22 2Bs and 36 RBI. In 2010, Shoemaker played the whole season at Class A Kannapolis Intimidators. In 2010, Shoemaker hit .293 in 338 at-bats with 12 HRs, 23 2Bs and 55 RBI. In 2011, Shoemaker started the season with Kannapolis but was later promoted to Class A-Advanced Winston-Salem Dash. In 2011 combined, Shoemaker hit .312 in 439 at-bats with 11 HRs, 31 2Bs and 77 RBI. In 2012, Shoemaker started the season at Winston-Salem but was promoted to Double-A Birmingham Barons. Shoemaker finished the 2012 season with combined .300 average, 35 2Bs, 17 HRs and 85 RBI in 134 games. Shoemaker missed the entire 2013 season due to injury.

On December 12, 2013, he was selected by the Miami Marlins in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 draft.

Drew Steckenrider

Andrew Paul Steckenrider (born January 10, 1991) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Miami Marlins organization.

Steckenrider attended Greater Atlanta Christian School in Norcross, Georgia and played college baseball at the University of Tennessee. He was drafted by the Miami Marlins in the eighth round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft. Steckenrider underwent Tommy John Surgery in 2013.[30] The Marlins added him to their 40-man roster after the 2016 season.[12]

Michael Strong

Michael Strong (born November 17, 1988) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Miami Marlins of Major League Baseball (MLB).

Strong played college baseball at Oklahoma State University. He was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 10th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft.[31] He was added to the Brewers 40-man roster on November 20, 2014.[32]

Colby Suggs

Logan Colby Suggs (born October 25, 1991) is an American professional baseball player. A pitcher, Suggs plays in Minor League Baseball for the Miami Marlins organization. Prior to playing professionally, Suggs attended the University of Arkansas, where he played college baseball for the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Suggs attended Sulphur Springs High School in Sulphur Springs, Texas, and played for the school's baseball and American football teams. In football, he played center for the school's state championship team. He was not selected in the Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft after graduating from high school, so he enrolled at the University of Arkansas to play college baseball for the Arkansas Razorbacks baseball team.[33] Suggs pitched in relief for the Razorbacks.[34] In 2013, Suggs recorded 13 saves, a Razorbacks record.[35]

The Miami Marlins selected Suggs in the second round, with the 73rd overall selection, of the 2013 MLB draft.[33]
