NAC TV (Neepawa Access Community Television) is a community channel based in Neepawa, Manitoba.
History
Originally available on Westman Cable channel 12, NAC TV also broadcasts over the air on UHF channel 30, with call sign CH5248. NAC TV became available across Manitoba on MTS TV in October 2012. NAC is on Channel 30 on the MTS lineup.[1][2] NAC TV is also carried by Bell TV, channel 592, since late 2012.[3][4]
In addition to airing local town council meetings, the station also airs live bingo, local news and public affairs shows, curling and hockey matches, plus ethnic, religious, and special interest programs, totalling 55 hours per week of local programming. Scheduled programming runs from about 10am to 11pm each day;[5] at other times, the station operates as a community billboard, with audio simulcast from CJBP-FM.
NAC TV sought, but did not receive, funds from CRTC's Small Market Local Production Fund to defray its equipment costs incurred connecting with MTS and Bell TV.[6]
On September 19, 2016 the board of directors of NACTV passed a motion to cease operations due to financial and management difficulties. The General Manager of the station currently faces an assault charge stemming from an incident with a volunteer of the station. A membership vote to close the station will be held on November 1st, 2016. [7]
