The Taipei Metro Nangang Line (Chinese: 南港線) is a high-capacity, underground rapid transit line on the Taipei Metro in Taipei, Taiwan. It has 12 stations, is 12.5 km (7.8 mi)-long and runs east-west through downtown starting in Zhongzheng and ending in Nangang, Taipei. It is part of the Blue Line and connects to the Banqiao Line and onwards to the Tucheng Line.

Overview

The 1.5 km (0.93 mi) Nangang Eastern Extension to Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center has been completed, with traveling time from Nangang Software Park to Taipei Main Station reduced from 34 minutes to 18 minutes.[1]

Due to Taipei City Hall Station being at the center of the Taipei 101 New Year's festivities, intervals between trains can be reduced to a minimum of 135 seconds, transporting up to 39,000 passengers per hour.[2] This results in an average of about 27 trains per hour on the Nangang Line during peak hours

History

The Nangang Line Eastern Extension, which connects the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Station to the Neihu Line, was opened for service on February 27, 2010.
