Nordeus is an independent mobile games developer headquartered in Belgrade, Serbia. The studio is best known for its hit game Top Eleven - Be a Football Manager, which has seen 150 million registered users so far and continues to attract millions of users every day.[1] Since its release, Top Eleven has been played in every single country in the world.[2]

Top Eleven is currently on track to become the first mobile game to reach 10 years on the market.

History

Nordeus was founded in 2010 by Branko Milutinović, Ivan Stojisavljević and Milan Jovović, who all previously worked at the Microsoft Development Center Copenhagen.[3] The three founders had first met at the University of Belgrade where they studied at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.

A bootstrapped startup since its founding, Nordeus has been profitable from its beginning and has remained fully independent of outside investment ever since.[4][5]

The company has grown from three to more than 160 top talents from all over the world, becoming, in the process, one of the fastest growing gaming studios in Europe.[6]

Earning several industry awards, most notably the Europa’s Award for The Best Gaming Startup,[7] Nordeus continues to be recognized as one of the best employers in South East Europe.[8][9]

Top Eleven is an online football management simulation game developed and published by Nordeus. Originally launched on Facebook in May 2010, the game was one of the first to offer cross-platform compatibility and a unified gaming experience across web, iOS and Android.[10]

Top Eleven’s user base continues to grow at a steady pace six years upon release, passing the mark of 150 million registered users across all supported platforms.[11]

Partnerships

In March 2013, Nordeus announced a deal making José Mourinho Top Eleven’s official global ambassador.[12] Mourinho has since become the centerpiece of global marketing campaigns for the game and has been featured on the Top Eleven game icon ever since. Furthermore, the famous Portuguese football expert appears in the game as an advisor for new players in the tutorial mode.

On May 6, 2016, Nordeus announced a renewal of a sponsorship deal with Biggleswade United F.C., a member of the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division.[13]

In order to offer Top Eleven players the possibility to use the official club jerseys and emblems of their favorite teams for their in-game clubs, Nordeus partners with some of the world’s most popular football clubs. The list of partners includes Real Madrid C.F., Atletico Madrid, Liverpool F.C., Arsenal F.C., Juventus F.C., A.C. Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint Germain F.C., S.L. Benfica, FC Porto, Sporting Clube de Portugal, AFC Ajax and more.[14][15][16]

Corporate Social Responsibility

Nordeus social responsibility projects are focused on supporting children and youth in the areas of health and education within Serbia. As part of the "Battle for Maternity Wards" campaign, the company donations helped to completely equip the new ward of Belgrade’s GAK Narodni Front’s neonatal intensive care unit and buy equipment for KBC Zvezdara's gynecology ward, as well as for the maternity ward of the General Hospital in Vranje.[17]

In 2016, Nordeus received the VIRTUS philanthropy award “for their support of the “Battle for Maternity Wards” and “Battle for Schools” campaigns, as well as for their support of the Children’s Drop-in Centre and Children’s Shelter”.[18]

In December 2016 Nordeus donated funds to four health care institutions in Vojvodina. Thanks to this donation, maternity wards in Zrenjanin, Senta, Kikinda and Sombor have been fully equipped.[19]

Nordeus has so far donated over 655.000 EUR to health institutions in Serbia and has recently announced a new donation in order to equip seven more maternity hospitals.[20]

Nordeus Hackathon

Since the first edition in 2011, the Nordeus Hackathon remains Southeast Europe’s largest game jam attracting participants from all over the world.[21] Traditionally held in December, the competition has a different theme every year. So far, participants have competed by making Tower Defense, Shoot’em up, Colony Simulation, Stealth and Deception, and Squad-Based Puzzle Platformer games.
