Northern Moor
Northern Moor is an area of Wythenshawe, South Manchester, England, west of Northenden and north of Wythenshawe Park, 5 miles from Manchester city centre; it is the northernmost area of Wythenshawe. The area has a wide range of people living within the area with a large park to the South of Northern Moor. The area has gown since the 1940's to cover the area of the old Tatton family estate and farms, which was at Wythenshawe park.
The ITV documentary series The Duchess On The Estate, filmed between February and July 2009, aired on TV on Tuesday 18 August and Tuesday 25 August.
It includes the site of Manchester (Wythenshawe) Aerodrome.
Education
Local schools include Rack House Primary School, St. Aidan's Primary School and Button Lane Primary School. Northern Moor is also home to the Northenden campus of Manchester College.
Transport links
Tram: Northern Moor Metrolink station is part of the airport extension.
Bus: Northern moor is on the 41 bus route linking Sale and Manchester together. Northern Moor is also on the number 19 bus route (to the Airport) and 108 (to the Hospital).
Roads: Northern moor has fantastic road links with both the M60 and M56 being with 1 minute drive. These are the two major motorway networks in the region and this makes Northern Moor very well connected.
Airport: 10 minute drive away.
Religion
Local churches include Lawton Moor Methodist Church, St. Michael and All Angels and Northern Moor Community Church.
Economy
Northern moor has two main shopping areas, one is called 'the circle' and the other is 'moorcroft road'. Shops include a post office, a supermarket, newsagents, chip shop, Chemist and Bakery. Northern moor is also well connected with other Shopping areas including Sale, Trafford centre, Wythenshawe and Manchester.
Northern moor has a Restaurant called the Yew Tree and two pubs.
Northern moor is mainly a residential area, with most people living in Northern Moor and traveling to Manchester Airport, Manchester, Sale or Warington to work. There are a number of employers in the area including Manchester College and local shops.
