OnMobile Global Limited is one of the top companies operating in the telecom value-added services (VAS).[3][4] It has collaborated with a series of internationally renowned mobile operators, such as MTN.[5][6] The company offers content management, content aggregation and distribution, voice short codes, missed call alerts, multimedia push services, mobile search, ringtones, ringback tones, voice portals, music products, mobile radio, entertainment products like football, cricket, quizzes & gaming solutions, movies and a safety app called Help Me on Mobile.[7]

Founded in 2000, OnMobile is headquartered in Bangalore, India[8] and serves customers in 59 countries [9] on 5 continents. OnMobile also has offices in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangladesh, Kuala Lumpur, Indonesia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Sydney, United Kingdom, Paris, Romania, Spain, Dubai, Cairo, Nairobi, Florida, Montreal, Bellevue, and California.

In the past one year, OnMobile has steadily grown its global footprint with the addition of partnerships in Africa [5][6][10] and North America.

Originally incorporated in California under the name Onscan Technologies India Private Limited as a spin-off from Infosys, the company relocated to India.[11][12][13] The company changed its name to OnMobile Asia Pacific Private Limited in April 2001 and finally to its current name in August 2007.[13] OnMobile became the first Indian telecom VAS company to go public when it was listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange of India on 19 February 2008.[14]

Arvind Rao, one of the founders of the company, resigned on July 10, 2012, by providing the reason of corporate governance issues during his tenure.[15][16] Co-founder Mouli Raman was appointed CEO following Rao's resignation. Raman held the position of CEO until he stepped down on May 7, 2014 and was succeeded by Rajiv Pancholy on June 2, 2014.[17][2]

Acquisitions

As of 2013, OnMobile acquired four companies in order to expand their product line.

ITFinity

In December 2006, OnMobile announced that it was acquiring ITFinity, a mobile software company, for $10–20 million.[18]

Telisma

OnMobile paid €12 Million for acquiring French speech recognition company Telisma S.A.[19] Telisma has a speech recognition technology available in 10 Indian languages - Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Gujarati, Punjabi, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, and English.[20] Previously, OnMobile had used speech recognition from Nuance Communications that supported 15 different languages.[21]

Dilithium Networks

In October 2010, OnMobile purchased Dilithium Networks, a developer of 3G video technology, for an undisclosed amount.[22]

Livewire Mobile

In June 2013, OnMobile acquired Livewire Mobile, a ringtone, ringback tone, an infotainment company, for $17.8 million.[23]
