Patrick Mächler

Patrick Mächler aka "Valio" (? in Basel 26 April 1983[1]) is a Swiss politician and member of the Pirate Party Switzerland (PPS). Besides Samir Allioui from the Netherlands he was co-president of Pirate Parties International (PPI) from July 2009 to February 2010, the umbrella organization of the international Pirate Party movement.[2] Both followed Andrew Norton as coordinator of the PPI in July 2009[3] who then resigned,[4] where Mächler proposed[5] to institute an intermediate board instead of a single person. In March 2010 Jerry Weyer from Luxembourg followed Mächler.[6] In March 2011 Mächler was elected as treasurer of PPI.[7][8]

Mächler holds a BSc degree in Computer Science and studies at the University of Basel.[1] When the PPS was founded in 2009, he was a candidate for the party's group coordinator position, but succumbed to Michael Friedrich.[9]
