Pnětluky (German: Netluk bei Laun) is a village in the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic. It has around 320 inhabitants.
Village Konětopy is administrative part of Pnětluky.
History
Pnětluky
The place is first mentioned in a written document from 1250. Old name of the village (Netluky) is explained after people who beat strongly into stones. During the 14th century a small fortress was built here, in the 15th the fortress was abandoned to be rebuilt in the 16th century. During the Thirty Years' War the village was devastated. The church building mentioned in 1363 was destroyed during the war. In 1715 the first school was established in Pnětluky. The highest number of inhabitants in the village was in year 1900 - 636.
Konětopy
The place is first mentioned in a written document from 1357. The name means drowning the horses and was likely used mockingly. In 1654 seven families lived here. In 1891 the first school was established directly in Konětopy. Since the first half of the 19th century the village was known for its hop (used as beer stabiliser). The highest number of inhabitants lived in Konětopy in 1921 - 365.
Pravda Castle
The remains of the castle Pravda (meaning the truth) can be found on a hill above the village.
Village today
Hop is the most important agricultural commodity in the area.
Architect Václav Zralý, a Czech modernist architecture of the 1930s, was born and lived here.
