Portugal competed at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, USSR.
Despite the United States-led international boycott to these Games, which was reflected in Portugal as the governmental non-funding of the Olympic mission, the Portuguese Olympic Committee's autonomy was respected and thus it was able to collect public financial support to send a delegation of eleven competitors. These participated in six sports, with a debut in boxing, however no medals were won. The nation marched under the Olympic Flag for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
