Sangachok is a village in Sindhupalchok District in the Bagmati Zone of central Nepal. At the time of the 2013 Nepal census it had a population 10,791of and had 1828 houses in the village.[1]
2015 Nepal Earthquake
The town was severely affected by the earthquake on 25 April 2015. In the aftermath of the earthquake people went to the toilet everywhere due the lack of organised toilets. The town suffered from poor sanitation, threat of an epidemic, and hunger. The natural spring the supplied the town with water was destroyed leaving residents to rely on existing stores of water and leading to water shortages.[2] There were inadequate medical supplies in the town. The nearest hospital was about 25 miles away. People slept outdoors in a makeshift tent community.[3] 183 people in the village were confirmed dead. Local officials avoided locals out of fear of their anger.[4]

SANGACHOK is a village named from combination of two words 'sanga' and 'chok'. Where sanga means 'kodo', the name of Nepalese crop and chok means 'way intersection' as a point. Sangachok is located at sindhupalchok district, bagmati zone,central development region, NEPAL. Sangachok is a village development committee (v.d.c.) located at north-east of Nepal 68 km far from capital city 'kathmandu' through araniko highway. Sangachok is surrounded by other v.d.c's namely thulosirubari, irkhu, kadambas, thokarpa and two big river of Nepal(namely indrawati and sunkoshi) at kavrepalacchok district side.It's a hilly region with some green forest and crop field with some village area. Most of the people here are sustainable farmer. Beside this some of them are teachers, government officers, polices, armies, shopkeepers, professional drivers etc. Most of the youth are abroad for job purposes.

Catching the bus Jyugal Yatayat (Jyugal Transportation) from Purano Bus Park, Kathmandu one can reach Sangachok Village Development Committee (v.d.c.) through araniko highway within about three hours. Sangachok is the gateway of Sindhupalchok district. Sangachok vdc is 60 km far from Kathmandu. Sangachok bazaar (bhanjyang) is 68 kilometer far from Kathmandu. One can reach the top hills of Sangachok by bus, 11 kilometer from Dolalghat, Kavrepalanchok district from where one can see longest range of Himalayas named Jyugal, Gaurishankar, Ganesh, langtang, high hills, forests, river named Sunkoshi and Indrawati. Sangachok lies on Sindhupalchok district, Bagmati zone, Central Development Region, Nepal.
Sangachok lies on the summit of hills surrounded by forests, river Sunkoshi and Indrawati also surround it. The natural scene has a great impact on every one mind. It gives pleasure too. Sangachok is the place of unforgettable natural beauty and spilled around history. There are about 12000 people in this village. The main occupation of the people of Sangachok is farmer.
A saying of old people goes as follows “Once the great Prithivi Narayan Shah had stayed in ‘Sangachok Gadhi’ for attacking Naldum (now Nagarkot) and for uniting Nepal. One can reach to sangachok gadhi from sangachok bazaar by walking to the summit for 25–30 minutes. since sangachok gadhi is at top, it is useful for scenery and sunrise. Every one is the lover of nature and beauty so for natural beauty visit Sangachok. The name Sangachok was derived from food named “kodo”.
