Sikkim Football Association (abbr. SFA; Nepali: सिक्किम फुटबल एशोसिएसन) is the state governing body of football in Sikkim, India. It is affiliated with the All India Football Federation, the sports national governing body.

History

The Sikkim Football Association was formed in the year 1976, previously it was known as the Gangtok Football and Sporting Association. Sikkim Football dates back with Local team Kumar Sporting club.[1][2][3]


The Federation started the Sikkim Gold Cup in 1979 with the help of the Sikkim government.

In 2010 with Football in Sikkim on a down low due to the lack of football organizing, former India Football Team Captain Baichung Bhutia, who was also .born in Sikkim, founded the club United Sikkim which was founded in order to help increase interest in football in the state.

Sikkim Football Pyramid

The Sikkim Football Pyramid is only filled with one league, the Sikkim Senior Division. There have been talks though of a Second Division coming up soon.
