Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU) is a university in Uganda, the third-largest economy in the East African Community.

Location

The university campus is located at Twed Towers, a nine-storey skyscraper at Plot 10 Kafu Road, on Nakasero Hill, a neighborhood in Central Kampala, one of the five administrative divisions of Kampala, the capital and largest city of Uganda. The coordinates of the university campus are 0°19'34.0"N, 32°35'01.0"E (Latitude:0.326111; Longitude:32.583611).[1]

History

UTAMU was founded in 2012 by Venansius Baryamureeba, who has always been its vice chancellor.[2] He recruited other lecturers and professors, both locally and internationally, and UTAMU admitted its inaugural class in May 2013, stating with five undergraduate degree courses in business and information technology.[3] The university is accredited by the Uganda Nation Council for Higher Education, the governmental body that licenses institutions of higher learning in the country.[4]

Academics

In its second year of operation, the university expanded its undergraduate degree menu from the original five courses to about two dozen courses in business and information technology.[6]

Diplomas are offered to undergraduate and graduate students in a number of disciplines.

Certificates are offered to undergraduate and graduate students in a number of disciplines.

The university offers the degrees of Master of Science, Masters of Arts, and Doctor of Philosophy in many disciplines in all four schools.
