William Kwabena Tiero (born 3 December 1980) is a former Ghanaian football player who played as a midfielder.
International
Tiero was part of the Ghanaian 2004 Olympic football team, which exited in the first round, having finished in third place in group B. Played all the three games against Italy, Paraguay and Japan, scored one goal.
Tiero started his career in 1997 with Feyenoord Rotterdam. In 1998 Feyenoord open an academy in Ghana, which Tiero joined and helped its growth. He later played three years with Feyenoord and was voted the best player with incredible skills, speed, shooting power and scoring abilities. Tiero will later qualify the club from division two to division one. In 2001 he won the goal king and best player of the division one league with Feyenoord Academy and best player of the middle league which drew the attention of the president of liberty professional FC, Alhaji Sly Tetteh to sign him to Liberty in 2002.
William Tiero was called to the Black stars in December 2002. Though he was formally known as a striker with many goals under his belt in the Ghanaian premier league, he was later changed to a position of midfielder by former black star coach Mariano Barreto during the 2006 world cup qualifying games and since then Tiero has remain a midfielder.
During the days of Liberty professionals and Asante Kotoko, he was called sensational William Tiero because of his skills and his scoring ability. In 2003 the Ghana League Clubs Association ( GHALCA ) nominated William Tiero as top four best player with an award which was presented to him by former black stars coach Bukhard Ziese. Coach Bukhard Ziese called him a promising Ghanaian future star.
