The 2016 Columbus Crew SC season will be the club's twenty first season of existence, and their twenty first consecutive season in Major League Soccer, the top flight of American soccer.
Background
Review
The 2015 Eastern Conference Champions had a rocky start to the 2016 season, as they went winless for their first five matches. Locker room complications also saw a dramatic exit to star striker Kei Kamara, following the fourth home match against the Montreal Impact. The season saw little improvement for the remainder, finishing with the team missing the playoffs.
Roster
Major League Soccer teams are limited to eight players without U.S. citizenship, a permanent resident (green card holder), or other special status (e.g., refugee or asylum status). These international roster slots can be traded.
Where a player has not declared an international allegiance, nation is determined by place of birth. Squad correct as of Aug 1, 2016.[1]
