Al-Azhar University – Gaza (Arabic: جامعة الأزهر بغزة) is a Palestinian university established in 1991 in Gaza City, Palestinian territories.
History
The university was founded in Gaza in 1991 by a presidential decree of Yasser Arafat.[4]
The department of desalination was established in 1995 by Riyad Hassan El-Khoudary. The water research center is an independent non-government Palestinian institution.[5]
The Faculty of Medicine was opened in 1999 as a branch of the Palestinian Faculty of Medicine in Al-Quds University, Abu Dis.[6]
