Claudio Miranda (born March 1965 in Valparaíso, Chile) is a Chilean cinematographer best known as the Academy Award-winning director of photography on Ang Lee's film Life of Pi and as the director of photography on David Fincher's film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, the first entirely digitally filmed movie nominated for an Academy Award for Best Cinematography and an American Society of Cinematographers Award.[1][2] He is the second Chilean person to win an Academy Award.
Career
Miranda first worked with David Fincher in 1995 as a gaffer on Seven. He performed the same role on The Game and Fight Club before becoming an additional photographer on Zodiac. He carried on Fincher's previous use of the Thomson Viper FilmStream Camera on Zodiac when filming The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.[1]
Personal life
Miranda was born in Valparaíso to a Chilean father and a Danish mother. When he was 1, he and his family emigrated to the United States.
