Donald Andrew John Cameron MSP (born 26 November 1976) is a Scottish politician who is a Scottish Conservative and Unionist Member of Scottish Parliament for the Highlands and Islands region, elected in the Scottish Parliament election, 2016. In the Scottish Parliament, he holds a position in the Conservative Shadow Cabinet with the portfolio for Health and Sport.[1]
Background
Cameron is the son of the Donald Cameron 27th Lochiel, chief of the Clan Cameron.
Cameron graduated with a first-class honours degree in modern history from the University of Oxford and a Diploma in Law from City University London.[2] He worked as an advocate for 10 years before his election and acted for a range of clients in public, agricultural and crofting law.[3][4]
Political career
Cameron stood unsuccessfully as the Conservative candidate in the Ross, Skye and Lochaber constituency, coming fourth in the United Kingdom general election, 2010.[3]
Cameron was elected to the Scottish Parliament by the Highlands and Islands regional list in 2016.[5] He was appointed by the party as 'Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Health and Sport'.[6][7] Cameron sits on the Health and Sport Committee of the Scottish Parliament.[8]
