He was educated at Moffat Academy and holds a first-class degree in constitutional law and legal theory from the University of Edinburgh. His father is Conservative MP David Mundell.[2]

EU referendum
Oliver and his father David campaigned on opposite sides of the EU referendum. Oliver stated that concern about the Common Agricultural Policy and his belief Scotland did not receive a good deal in this area were one reason he would vote Leave. His father David however campaigned for Remain and insisted Oliver was entitled to his own view and the disagreement on this one issue would not affect their relationship. [4]
