Graham Simpson is a Scottish Conservative Party politician who has been a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for Central Scotland since the 2016 Scottish Parliament election.

He has been a Councillor in South Lanarkshire Council since 2007.

Political career

South Lanarkshire Council

Simpson was elected to the council in the South Lanarkshire Council election, 2007. He was elected after the seventh count getting 860 first preference votes.

He contested East Kilbride West again in the South Lanarkshire Council election, 2012. He was elected on the 1st count with 1,197 first preference votes.

Scottish Parliament

For the 2016 Scottish Parliament election, Simpson was selected in to contest the East Kilbride Constituency and was placed second on the Conservatives' Central region list,[1] behind Margaret Mitchell MSP and ahead of Alison Harris MSP. Margaret Mitchell was re-elected and both Simpson and Harris were elected to the Scottish Parliament for the first time on the Central region list.[2][3]

Simpson is the Conservative spokesperson for local government.[4]
