The Italy national U-16 football team is the national under-16 football team of Italy and is controlled by the Italian Football Federation.
The Italy U16 football team is a feeder team of Italy U17.
The U-16 team was known as "U-15 team" prior 2001: Before 2001, the UEFA European Under-17 Championship was known as UEFA European Under-16 Football Championship, (U19 Euro was also known as U18). It is because the age in the name of the tournament was refer to the age limit at the start of season, in the editions before 2001. Since 2002 edition, the age in the name of the tournament was refer to the age limit at the end of season. Thus, as a feeder team for the team that compete in U16/17 Euro, the team have a different name but in fact the same team.
History
The team won 2003 Montaigu Tournament.
