Parasia is a census town in Bardhaman district in the Indian state of West Bengal.
Geography
Parasia is located at 23°39′N 87°10′E / 23.65°N 87.16°E.[1] Parasia is located in Jamuria block of Asansol subdivision of Bardhaman district.[2] Jamuria police stations serves this town.[2]
Demographics
As of 2001 India census,[3] Parasia had a population of 8684. Males constitute 56% of the population and females 44%. Parasia has an average literacy rate of 55%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 65%, and female literacy is 42%. In Parasia, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.
