Pedro Chirivella Burgos (born 23 May 1997) is a Spanish footballer who plays for Premier League club Liverpool as a midfielder.

Club career

Early career

Chirivella was born in Valencia. He is a product of the Valencia academy before being signed by Liverpool in 2013 along with fellow Spaniard Sergi Canós.[3] He went straight into the under-18 squad, then signed his first professional contract in 2014 and became a regular for the under-21s.[4] His first taste of senior football was during Liverpool's pre-season tour of Asia in 2015 where he made two appearances from the bench.

He got his first competitive call up for Liverpool's UEFA Europa League group stage match against Bordeaux on 17 September 2015, wearing[5] squad number 68.[6] He made his debut in the match coming on as a 28th-minute substitute for the injured Kolo Touré in a 1–1 draw at the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux.[7]

His second appearance for the club came on 8 January 2016 as a substitute in an FA Cup third round match against Exeter City.[8]

On 9 February 2016, he started his first game for Liverpool, playing for 100 minutes in a 2-1 defeat against West Ham United in the FA Cup fourth round replay.[9] On 9 March, Chirivella signed a new contract tying him to the club through 2020.[10]

Chirivella made his Premier League debut for Liverpool on 1 May 2016, starting against Swansea City before being substituted at half time.[11]

International career

Chirivella has represented Spain at under-17 level, scoring twice in 15 appearances.
