Pinehurst is a census-designated place (CDP) in Montgomery County, Texas, United States. The population was 4,266 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Pinehurst is located at 30°10′43″N 95°41′47″W / 30.17861°N 95.69639°W / 30.17861; -95.69639 (30.178614, -95.696303).[1]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 9.0 square miles (23.4 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 4,266 people, 1,464 households, and 1,137 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 472.5 people per square mile (182.4/km²). There were 1,585 housing units at an average density of 175.6/sq mi (67.8/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 93.86% White, 0.87% African American, 0.61% Native American, 0.21% Asian, 3.23% from other races, and 1.22% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 10.29% of the population.

There were 1,464 households out of which 38.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.5% were married couples living together, 8.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.3% were non-families. 17.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.91 and the average family size was 3.30.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 29.4% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 29.5% from 25 to 44, 24.3% from 45 to 64, and 8.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 103.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 99.1 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $42,946, and the median income for a family was $49,390. Males had a median income of $39,432 versus $28,672 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $18,516. About 8.0% of families and 10.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 9.2% of those under age 18 and 9.3% of those age 65 or over.

Pinehurst is within the Magnolia Independent School District and Tomball Independent School District.
