Rumworth and Daubhill railway station was built by the London and North Western Railway to replace the original Daubhill station built by the Bolton and Leigh Railway. Both served the Daubhill (locally pronounced "Dobhill") area of south west Bolton.

The original line from Bolton through Daubhill to Kenyon Junction included two rope-hailed inclines, one at Chequerbent and the other at Daubhill. Although improvements in locomotive design meant these became redundant by the 1850s, the line was also largely single track. The LNWR decided to improve the line by addressing both issues: it doubled the route throughout and built new, less steeply graded lines bypassing the Chequerbent and Daubhill banks.

The new bypass sections were opened in 1885. The original Chequerbent station was closed and a new one opened on a nearby site on the new line and. likewise, the original Daubhill station was closed and a new one - initially also named "Daubhill" - was opened on a nearby site on its new line. The new Daubhill station was renamed "Rumworth and Daubhill" within weeks of opening and kept this name until closure.

The station had two platforms with the station building above, on the north side of St Helens Road, Bolton.[3]

Rumworth and Daubhill closed to passengers on 3 March 1952, although local services continued to pass through until all regular passenger services from Bolton Great Moor St were withdrawn on 27 March 1954.
