Shiv Ganga Express is an Indian Super-fast train of North Eastern Railway Zone Varanasi named after the two jewels of Varanasi: Lord Shiva and the Ganges river. The main towns along the route are Allahabad and Kanpur.It was passed in 2002's Railway Budget and hence initiated its journey from 1 July 2002 It operates daily and covers a distance of 755 kilometres (469 mi) from Manduadih railway station to New Delhi. Shiv Ganga Express originally consisted of 24 ICF coaches which includes 1 First AC coach, 1 Second AC coach, 4 Third AC coach, 10 Sleeper Class coaches,5 General (Un-Reserved) coaches, Pantry Car and 2 SLR overall 24 coaches that makes it one of the longest trains in India. Shiv Ganga Express is usually hauled by a WDM 3A Locomotive from Manduadih to Allahabad Jn and by a WAP 4 or a WAP 5 Locomotive from Allahabad Jn to New Delhi. It is considered as the best train between New Delhi and Varanasi. It has got a maximum speed of 120 kilometres per hour (75 mph). It is one of the few Superfast trains which pass through Manduadih-Madho Singh-Allahabad section. This train is now running with 22 LHB Coaches from 16 June 2015 which includes 1 First AC Coach (H1), 1 Second AC Coach (A1), 4 Third AC Coaches (B1-B4), 10 Sleeper Class Coaches (S1-S10), 3 General (Un-Reserved) Coaches, Pantry Car and 2 EOG (End-on Generator).

Reservation

People have to take an advanced reservation ticket to travel in the train except for the General class. It records a rush of passengers throughout the year in both peak as well as non-peak period. Because of its time of departure and arrival, it runs fully packed, therefore it is considered as a VIP train by Indian Railway.
