IHS, the first three letters of "Jesus" in Greek, is written in the center of the sun, and is sometimes given the meaning Iesu (Jesus), Homo (mankind), and Salvator (saviour). IHS is the symbol of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) since their foundation under St. Ignatius of Loyola.[3]
