Gambian–Russian relations (Russian: Российско-гамбийские отношения) are the bilateral relationship between the two countries, the Gambia and Russia. Both countries have established diplomatic relations on July 17, 1965. Diplomatic relations were later established once again after the breakup of the Soviet Union.

The Gambia has an embassy in Moscow. Russia is represented in the Gambia through its embassy in Dakar (Senegal).

Relations

Political cooperation is based on the proximity of the two countries on major international issues, which allows to work to further their coordination in relevant areas for Russia. Gambians have expressed a desire to organize a working visit to Russia Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, and Secretary of State in charge of the economic bloc, in order to intensify cooperation in economic and cultural fields. Since 1996, the annual re-provision of government scholarships for training of Gambian experts in Russian universities. In general, the Soviet and Russian universities produced about 100 Gambian professionals. The Gambia has an interest in purchasing Russian goods, including buses, trucks, road equipment, cooperation in the field of maritime and air transport. In connection with economic difficulties opportunities Gambians funding of certain commercial transactions is limited, as earlier agreement had not been implemented.
