Thomas Heurtel (born April 10, 1989) is a French professional basketball player for Anadolu Efes Istanbul of the Turkish Basketball Super League (BSL). Standing at 1.89 m (6 ft 2 12 in), he plays at the point guard position.

Professional career

Heurtel rose through the ranks at Élan Béarnais Pau-Orthez and played in the first team of the club for two seasons. In the 2008–09 season, he won the French League Rising Star Award.

One year later, after the relegation of Pau-Orthez, he signed with ASVEL Basket,[1] but played on loan with Strasbourg IG. In the summer of 2010, he left France to join the Spanish League club Meridiano Alicante.[2]

In 2011, Heurtel signed with Caja Laboral, and debuted in the Euroleague.[3]

On 27 December 2014, just before starting the Top 16 of the 2014–15 Euroleague, Heurtel signed a three-year contract with Turkish club Anadolu Efes.[4][5] With Efes, Heurtel needed just two months to win his first club title, helping his team to win the Turkish Cup and been named the competition MVP.[6] At the beginning of the next season, Heurtel helped Anadolu Efes to beat Pınar Karşıyaka and win the Turkish President´s Cup, his second title in less than 10 months.[7]

French national team

Heurtel played with the French Under-20 national team at two FIBA Europe Under-20 Championships. In 2009, he won the silver medal. He played with the senior men's French national basketball team at the EuroBasket 2013.
