Udma is a census town in Kasaragod district in the Indian state of Kerala.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[1] Udma had a population of 8144. Males constitute 46% of the population and females 54%. Udma has an average literacy rate of 75%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 80%, and female literacy is 71%. In Udma, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Politics

Udma assembly constituency is part of Kasaragod (Lok Sabha constituency).[2] Udma is an adjustant place to Kasaragod. Famous for multicultural harmony expressed in different festivals like Theyyam, Pooram, Arrattu, etc. Pristine beaches and unpolluted long sandy sea shores running southwards to famous Bekel Fort.

Local roads have access to NH.66 which connects to Mangalore in the north and Calicut in the south. The nearest railway station is Kanhangad on Mangalore-Palakkad line. There are airports at Mangalore and Calicut.
