Uttaranchal Dental & Medical Research Institute (UDMRI), Dehradun is among the well-known institutes of Uttarakhand. The college offers five years of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree course at the undergraduate level. Affiliated to Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, Srinagar the institution is approved by the Dental Council of India (DCI), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and the Government of India.

The dental institution intends to train aspirants as well-qualified and skilled dentists. Uttaranchal Dental & Medical Research Institute boasts of being equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.[1]

Course

The Institute imparts BDS (Bachelor in Dental Surgery) training in accordance with the rules laid down by the Dental Council of India, New Delhi and Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, Srinagar, Uttarakhand. The Institute is affiliated to the said university for the purpose of examination and award of B.D.S. Degree.

Total duration of the course is 4 years + one year compulsory internship during this period the professional examinations that is one at the end of each academic year, are conducted by the university. After passing the final professional examination it is compulsory to undergo one-year rotatory internship, Degree will be awarded only after completion of internship.[2]

Admissions

A limited number of seats will be registered in advance every year. The candidate seeking their admission may get their seat registered in advance if he/she fulfills the criteria laid down for admission.[3]

Selection Process

Qualification

The required qualification of the applicant is not less than 12th standard of Uttarakhand Board or an equivalent examination of any recognized Board/University with the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology and has obtained minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. All Selections, in the first instance would be provisional to be confirmed after counseling.[4]

Age

The candidates should have completed 17 years of age before 31 December of that commencing session of studies. The candidate should be medically fit.[5] Admissions are done on the basis of candidate’s performance in U.P.M.T. (Uttarakhand Pre-Medical Test).

Facilities

Library

The library has a seating capacity of 150 and put together are spread over 400sq.mt. This library has an enviable collection of more than 2500 volumes of national and international acclaimed books. The library ensure provision of all support activities like audio visual room, book bank etc. It has also have subscription to more than 100 journals and magazines of national and international publications. Nearly all the available newspapers are within the easy reach of the students.[8]
