Vergiate is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Varese in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 45 km northwest of Milan and about 15 km southwest of Varese. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 8,740 and an area of 21.6 km².[1]
The municipality of Vergiate contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Cimbro, Corgeno, Cuirone, and Sesona.
Vergiate borders the following municipalities: Arsago Seprio, Casale Litta, Comabbio, Golasecca, Mercallo, Mornago, Sesto Calende, Somma Lombardo, Varano Borghi.
