Alot (Hindi: अलोट) is a town and nagar panchayat in the Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh, India.

Alot has a population of 40,948.[1]
Culture
Alot is a tehsil place and a small town; it is a tahsil of Ratlam district and the hometown to Jangalwa Dynasty. It is on the route of the Delhi–Bombay railway track. Through trade routes Jewellers and Businessman established themselves in the town before the 17th century and flourished businesses in ginning and jewellery. A glimpse of the business lifestyle during that era can still be found in the historical town. Alot is a main station for Jain thirth; many Jain people go there daily for the darshan of Lord Jain Swetamber. A small village, Vikramgarh, is also part of Alot, because some of the land of Alot lies within the boundary of Vikramgarh so the full name of Alot is Vikramgarh Alot. Trains are available for all major stations in India from Alot station. Alot is home to the Shipwara temple and Dharola Mahadev temple.[2] The temple of Shiva is more than 5,000 years old. It is said that Hanuman took rest there while picking Sanjivani Booti, leaving a footprint still visible. Every year on Kartik Purnima, Alot holds a mela for a livestock market. There is a popular place for Jainism that is Nageshwar Unhel, about 8 km from the main market. There are other temples "Ramsingh Darbar", "Lakshminarayan Mandir", "Hanuman mandir" and Khedapati Hanuman Mandir. In Alot, there is a very large ground for cricket, the Bajrang Club, and a popular garden, Ambedkar bhavan.
The people of Alot have many religions. Hindus, Muslims and Bohras all live there. It is one of the oldest settlements of Madhya Pradesh and was under the jurisdiction of Dewas before freedom.
