Cristian Tănase (born 18 February 1987 in Pitești) is a Romanian footballer who plays for Turkish club Kardemir Karabükspor as a midfielder.

Club career

Argeș and loan to Dacia Mioveni: 2003–2009

Tănase began his career on the youth side for Argeș Pitești and in summer 2003 was promoted to the first team which played in the Liga I. He only played in a handful of games in his first years with the Romanian team[1] and as a result he was loaned to Dacia Mioveni for the first half of the 2005–06 campaign. He gathered five games for the Mioveni team.[2]

After his return to Argeș Pitești he became an important player in the team gathering more than 100 games before his departure.[3]

Steaua București: 2009–2015

On 6 August 2009 he signed a five-year contract with Steaua București for an undisclosed fee, though media reports estimated it to be €1.8 million for buying 50% of the player's rights.[4][5]

On 13 December 2009 he scored his first goal for Steaua in a 3–2 victory against Internațional Curtea de Argeș, which was a winning goal in the 72nd minute.[6]

In the 2010–11 season he scored three goals, two in the 2010-11 UEFA Europa League and one from a volley against Liga I side Pandurii Târgu Jiu.

In the 2011–12 season he scored in a 4–0 win against Liga I side Mioveni and scored the goal against CSKA Sofia that qualified his team for the 2011-12 UEFA Europa League group stage. He contributed two essential goals against Maccabi Haifa in the group stage. During his last season at the club, he was the team's captain, and most important player.

Tianjin Teda: 2015–2016

After six years of playing for Steaua, Tănase left for Chinese club Tianjin Teda, signing a two-year deal with the club, leaving for a transfer fee of 700,000 pounds.

Sivasspor: 2016–

After one year of playing for Tianjin Teda, Tănase left for Turkish club Sivasspor, signing a two-year deal with the club.

International career

Tănase played his debut for the Romania national football team in a friendly game on 19 November 2008 against Georgia.[7] On 1 April 2009 he scored his first goal against Austria.[8]

On January 27, 2012 Tănase scored two goals in a 4–0 thrashing over Turkmenistan.[9] This brings his tally to 5 goals in 27 games so far.[10]
