The lone Legislative District of Iligan City was the representation of City of Iligan in the Regular Batasang Pambansa from 1984 to 1986. After the People Power Revolution, the representation of the city was reverted to the province of Lanao del Norte
The passage of Republic Act 9724 separates this highly urbanized city from the first congressional district of Lanao del Norte to form its own congressional district beginning in the 2010 elections.
