Yuanling County (simplified Chinese: 沅陵县; traditional Chinese: 沅陵縣; pinyin: Yuánlíng Xiàn) is under the administration of Huaihua, Hunan province, China. The Yuan River flows through it; at the county seat, the You River flows into the Yuan. It is the largest county-level division of the province and the northernmost in Huaihua City, bordering the prefecture-level divisions of Zhangjiajie to the north, Changde to the northeast, Yiyang to the southeast, and Xiangxi to the west.

Ethnic groups

According to the Yuanling County Almanac (1993:104), there are 36,715 ethnic Miao and 23,879 ethnic Tujia. There are also 135 ethnic Bai living in the Zhuhong Stream watershed 朱红溪 of Beirong District 北容区, namely the villages of Luoping 落坪, Qijiaxi 七甲溪, Daheping 大合坪.
