Summer Olympics appearances (overview)

Bhutan competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. This was the nation's ninth consecutive appearance at the Summer Olympics.

For the second time in Olympic history, Bhutan sent a team of only female athletes to the Games. The Bhutanese roster featured air rifle shooter Kunzang Lenchu and archer Karma, who was selected as the nation's flag bearer in the opening ceremony.[2] With neither of them progressed beyond the first round of their events, Bhutan has yet to win its first Olympic medal.
