Gaura Barhaj is a city and a municipal board in Deoria district in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. Barhaj is a town which is situated at bank of holy Saryu (Ghaghra) River in District Deoria, U.P. Sona mandir is a famous temple in Barhaj. It is situated on the bank of Ghaghra river. It was the work place of Baba Raghav Das, a saint.
Demographics
As of 2001 India census,[1] Gaura Barhaj had a population of 35,279. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Gaura Barhaj has an average literacy rate of 57%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 65%, and female literacy is 47%.
