Isaiah 51 is the fifty-first chapter of the Book of Isaiah in the Hebrew Bible or the Old Testament of the Christian Bible.[1][2] This book contains the prophecies spoken by the prophet Isaiah, and is a part of the Book of the Prophets.[3][4] This chapter contains a consolation from the Lord to the people of Israel.

Verse 6
- Lift up your eyes to the heavens,
- and look upon the earth beneath:
- for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke,
- and the earth shall wax old like a garment,
- and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner:
- and the earth shall wax old like a garment,
- but my salvation shall be for ever,
- and my righteousness shall not be abolished.[7]
A part of this verse is referred to by Jesus Christ as recorded in Matthew 24:35:
- "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away."[8]
